We simply let the quality of our work speak for itself. We wanted something that showcased the pride we take in each job we complete. So a few years ago, our team consulted with some industry experts to see how we could put a visual stamp of integrity on each job. We came up with what we call the Board of Truth.
The Board of Truth
The Board of Truth is simply a piece of 2×4 that we run across the face of the studs once we complete a spray foam job. We stencil the foam with our company name, our phone number and our motto: “Comfort is only a FOAM call away.” Then each crew member signs their name, and we take a photo. We do this right in front of the homeowner, architect or builder to show the pride we take in our work. We’re not just spraying foam: We are creating a living space where the quality of life is enhanced by the work we do.
The Board of Truth has another purpose as well. It offers a visual frame of reference to show the homeowner that we’re delivering the appropriate depth of spray foam for their particular needs. If the foam is flush to the board, the homeowner knows that the application has been done properly.
We Pride Ourselves on Paying Attention to the Details
You might be asking yourself why we practice this ritual when the Board of Truth will eventually be covered by drywall? It’s a good question.The simple answer: I take the Steve Jobs approach to our work. In Steve Job’s biography, author Walter Isaacson retells a conversation between Jobs and his Apple co-founder Steve Wosniak during the early years of Apple. Jobs, ever the perfectionist, was complaining that the internal circuit boards of their computers were not in perfectly aligned rows. Wosniak’s heated response: “Steve, who cares?! No one is ever going to see inside this box.” Jobs replied, “I want it to be perfect inside and out.”
When our technicians sign their name to the board in front of the client, it stands as a public testimony to the pride they take in their workmanship—even though it will not be visible once the interior work is completed. You won’t find a more committed group of guys who pay attention to the details and care intensely about the experience of the homeowner. And that’s a big reason why so many people hire us to do their work.
