Crawlspace Spray Foam in Highland Park, IL
When you are an architect who has smartly designed a ranch home for you and your wife with radiant floors for heat, including for the kitties in the garage slab, why won’t the same radiant heat throughout the house keep you warm in the addition over the crawlspace?
This Highland Park project started with a replacement boiler that was not rated to the same amount of heat as the boiler it replaced. That lack of heat came with a dramatically more energy effect boiler but created an unhappy family during the coldest days of the winter.
For Chicago Green Insulation we quickly identified the issue as a lack of air sealing/ use of traditional insulation only at the ceiling of the crawl. We removed the existing insulation at the ceiling, added new reflective insulation under the radiant tubing and closed cell foam at the exterior walls.
The crawlspace was in the 20’s or teens prior to our work and a warm 55-60 degrees after our work, and the living room addition above was once again a happy place with wide open views of the outside and warmth from below keeping the family happy!
